Jake is going to serve for at least two years as a
missionary in Croc, Mexico with YouthFront.
YouthFront’s mission in Croc:
“Building holistic, Christ-centered community transformation”
- Summer Missions Program involves short term high school mission trips that included house building, VBS, and a discount clothing store.
- Year Round Ministry includes an after school tutoring program, micro-lending, and youth mentoring.
Jake’s Role
- During summers: house construction supervision, lead summer staff bible study, provide material and leadership to facilitate structured discussion time with the high school students about topics such as immigration, simplicity, and poverty. Film and produce a training video for future construction supervisors.
- Language school: two three-month periods of study during Jake’s first year
- Non-summer months in Croc: Provide spiritual shepherding to the many families in Croc he has helped build houses for. He is already close to several of these families and would work to continue to build these relationships, meet physical needs, encourage prayer and scripture reading, and invite them to join the Christian community. Currently several of these families are not connected to the church or the other YouthFront staff. He will also lead spiritual formation for the fulltime staff including a weekly bible/book study.
